Home Remedies Harmful For Cancer Patients
Are you suffering from cancer? And thinking of simultaneously pursuing alternative treatment? Then think again. Because it might not be safe at all. A recent research suggests that you risk compromising your treatment by using complementary remedies along with your prescribed treatment. Scientists at London's Homerton Hospital warn alternative remedies such as garlic, cod liver oil and St John's Wort pose a risk of side effects. For example, garlic and cod liver oil are anticoagulants and may exaggerate the effect of blood thinning drugs taken by you. Remedies such as St John's Wort can interfere with the action of hormones, antibiotics and chemotherapy. Researchers are also concerned about echinacea which effects the immune system. It may compromise some types of cancer treatments for lymphoma and leukemia. Still, if you believe that some form of alternative medicines can help you, then please consult the doctor before taking them.
